Role Responsibilities

• Own the technical operation, engineering, and architecture of Cloudflare’s global network, including planning, installation, and day-to-day management of hardware and software across the edge and backbone.
• Serve as a hands-on operational anchor for the team — diagnosing and resolving complex network faults, owning incident response end-to-end including on-call rotation, and contributing to post-incident reviews to drive continuous improvement.
• Build production AI agents for network operations. Design, ship, and own LLM-powered tools that integrate with our operational systems of record via tool calling. Ship them with evals, observability of agent decisions, cost tracking, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints where autonomous action carries blast radius.
• Apply AI to accelerate troubleshooting. Use and extend our internal AI platform (Workers AI, AI Gateway) to speed up root cause analysis, pattern recognition across faults, and operational decision-making under pressure.
• Architect network improvements that lower latency, reduce packet loss, and increase scale — optimising end user experience across Cloudflare’s global infrastructure.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers on the team, setting technical standards, conducting structured troubleshooting sessions, and building a culture of operational excellence and continuous learning.
• Collaborate with internal teams on cross-functional network projects, contributing to design documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles that outlast any individual contributor.

Role Requirements (Must-Have Skills)

• Proven track record in large-scale network engineering and operations.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript and/or Go sufficient to build, debug, and maintain agent code, not just to glue scripts together.
• Working knowledge of agent integration patterns: function/tool calling, MCP or equivalent, retrieval over operational corpora (runbooks, postmortems, change history), and prompt iteration with evals.
• Experience reasoning about agent failure modes in production: hallucination guards, fallback paths, rollback, blast-radius control.

We need someone who is equally comfortable writing C and JavaScript. The Bare team builds and maintains the runtime itself along with a growing ecosystem of native modules (bare-bluetooth, bare-tcp, bare-fs, bare-crypto, and many more). What You’ll Do:

Huntress seeks an experienced leader to elevate our Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) teams and deliver purpose-built products for all businesses. In this role, you’ll be responsible for teams that develop our fast-growing ITDR product, which protects over 11M identities across thousands of customers. You will also be responsible for growing a team for one of our newest products, Identity Security Posture Management (ISPM). We’re seeking a passionate, inclusive engineering leader who can bring state-of-the-art engineering practices and deep experience in developing teams and people to accelerate our next growth phase. • Collaborate with Huntress’s Architecture, Product Management, and Threat Operations teams to integrate their expertise and needs into our products

What You Bring To The Team:

• 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership, building SaaS products in a modern SaaS environment
• 5+ years of experience at the director level or higher
• Experience with Claude Code or similar AI coding tools
• Experience and knowledge of best practices for scalable delivery of on-premise software agents
• Experience developing, evolving, and maintaining high-volume, scalable solutions
• Deep understanding of organizing engineering teams to deliver customer value iteratively and experience with various approaches such as hypothesis-driven development, Shape Up, Scrum, and Kanban
• Skilled at hiring, building teams, leading, and coaching managers, and performance management
• Demonstrated success working with architecture and product management leaders to develop and execute a shared product and technical vision
• Experience in a fully remote environment

Which team will you be joining?

You’ll join Infrastructure, the team that owns the platform every other Primer engineer builds and ships on. CI/CD, deployment, internal tooling, ephemeral environments: if it’s how code gets from a laptop to production safely, it’s ours.

We operate the way the rest of Primer does. Remote-first, async, high autonomy, low bureaucracy. You build it, you own it, and that includes running it in production. You’ll report to the Engineering Manager for Infrastructure & Data and work alongside a small group of senior infrastructure engineers.

What makes this interesting right now is the human-AI development loop. Coding agents are changing how software gets built, and we want someone to own how that actually works at Primer rather than bolting it on. That part of the role is yours to define.

What will you be doing?

• Own Primer’s internal developer platform end to end: the CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows (canary, blue/green), self-service tooling and ephemeral environments that every engineer here depends on to ship.

• Build the human-AI development loop. This is the most open part of the role: the tooling and automation that let engineers work effectively alongside coding agents, and the patterns that make agent-driven workflows fast and safe at Primer.

• Treat developer productivity as a measurable system. Instrument it, find where delivery actually slows down, and ship the changes that fix it instead of guessing.

• Take real operational ownership. You’ll join the Core Infrastructure on-call rotation and own the reliability of what you build.

• Set the technical direction for how Primer’s engineers build and ship, and bring less experienced engineers along with you as you do it.

• Improve how engineers write code, not just how they ship it. Partner with product teams to make the tools, frameworks and internal APIs they use everyday more ergonomic, and help reduce the friction of building features at Primer.

• Build Primers paved roads. Reduce the application boilerplate engineers write, shape standards around how services are built and configured, and own the golden-path tooling that lifts efficiency across every team.

• Work in the open across a fully distributed team, making your decisions and trade-offs visible rather than holding them in your head.

What we’re looking for

• Strong cloud infrastructure experience. AWS is preferred; we’ll also consider strong GCP backgrounds.

• Hands-on Kubernetes experience.

• Infrastructure-as-code as a working tool, not a buzzword. Terraform is preferred, but Pulumi, CloudFormation, Ansible or similar are fine. Not having Terraform specifically is not a blocker.

• CI/CD as a core competency. You’ve owned the build, test and deploy workflow and preview environments, not just used them.

• A history of measuring and improving delivery, using DORA, SPACE or a similar framework to back the work up.

• Comfortable owning production systems and being part of an on-call rotation.

• A genuine software engineering background. You’ve built and maintained applications or products, not just infrastructure tooling.

• You can reason about what makes code pleasant to work with. This is what lets you build AI and developer tooling that engineers actually want to use.

• An async-first communicator who works well in a remote, distributed team.

Nice to have:

• Hands-on experience building with AI or agent tooling, or working directly with LLM-based development workflows. This field is new, so real curiosity counts alongside real experience.

• Familiarity with MCP servers and agent integration patterns.

• Payments, fintech or other regulated-industry experience.

You may not like it here

• We’re remote-first and async-first. Nobody is looking over your shoulder, and nobody is going to hand you tightly scoped tasks. You own your work from problem to production.

• This role carries real operational weight. You’re on call for what you build, and when something breaks at an awkward hour, that’s yours too.

• The AI-enablement side of this is genuinely undefined. There’s no playbook yet. If you want a clear, settled remit, this isn’t it. If you want to write one, it is.

• Pace and ambiguity are constant. Priorities shift as we learn, and you’ll often be making calls without complete information.

Staff Backend Engineer - Platform SysEng

The Opportunity:

Grafana Cloud moves millions of metrics, log lines, and traces per second from our customers’ environments into a highly available, low-latency stack that processes and stores this data, and serves them to dashboards and alerting tools. We aim to grow this to hundreds of millions per second, and it’s critical that as we grow, we improve our performance, increase our reliability, and, of course, do it efficiently and effectively.

The Internal Engineering Platform (IEP) delivered by the Platform department provides application engineers with the tools, systems and Kubernetes clusters they need to build, deploy and run their workloads. Platform roles at Grafana Labs have an eye for engineers with a passion for performance and reliability, and who enjoy taking projects from conception to production. We organize ourselves into squads to allow focus on: cloud infrastructure and capacity management; security; engineering productivity; monitoring and sustainability; and US Federal compliance.

Because we deploy production services, we have on-call rotations to ensure the health of the system. Everyone at Grafana Labs tries to incorporate and use our product line up into their day-to-day, so being on call is an important way to understand our system and how people use our products.

What You’ll Be Doing:

We are hiring for the Platform SysEng squad. This is an accelerated, cross-cutting squad that is focused on the maturity and scalability of the platform. Currently, SysEng is working across engineering with a goal of reducing new region build timelines to meet customer demands.

We’re part of a Platform Engineering group that manages infrastructure for the teams that are building some of the most cherished tools - Grafana, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope to name a few.

• You enjoy working with engineers, as well as with the management structures that are there to support you and enable you and your team to do your very best.

You can use modern AI coding assistants as part of your daily workflow (your choice of tools, within security guidelines), backed by a company-funded usage budget so you can iterate quickly without unnecessary friction. We encourage pragmatic AI-assisted development: faster prototyping, test generation, refactors, documentation, and incident follow-ups—always paired with strong code review and quality standards. You’ll also have access to frontier models (e.g., GPT-Codex 5⁄3, Claude Opus 4.6, Gemini 3 Pro).

Requirements:

• Proven delivery of large distributed systems. Experience shipping and operating complex systems that span multiple teams, with clear evidence of technical leadership and impact.
• Demonstrable experience in system design. Deep understanding of tradeoffs around latency, consistency, availability, scaling and cost.
• Hands-on cloud and platform experience. Solid experience with cloud-native architectures (microservices, containers/Kubernetes, IaC) and the operational practices that keep them healthy.
• Reliability and performance ownership. Comfortable defining SLOs/SLIs, doing capacity planning, tuning performance, and driving reliability work end-to-end.
• Excellent coding and design skills. You write clear, maintainable, well-tested code and can lead technical designs — we use Go, but Python/C/C++/Rust or similar translate well.
• Comfort with AI-assisted development. We embrace AI and agentic development so we expect you to be curious and comfortable using AI-powered developer tools and ideally have practical experience folding them into a team’s workflow.
• Influence without authority. Ability to align cross-functional stakeholders, set priorities and drive outcomes in a remote-first environment.
• Strong communicator. Clear written and verbal communication that works across engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus Points For:

• You’ve worked in or on open source, or other community-based projects previously. At Grafana Labs, “OSS is in our DNA”.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes scheduling and projects like Karpenter.
• Terraform and/or Crossplane experience. We have mixed usage - each has its strengths.
• Experience with Tanka and/or Jsonnet.

Compensation & Rewards:

In Canada, the Base compensation range for this role is CAD 186,368- CAD 223,642. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed in the interview process. Benefits include equity, bonus (if applicable) and other benefits listed here.
