Job Overview
The Product Owner supports the execution of the platform product roadmap by translating business requirements into development-ready work across multiple backend engineering teams. • Write, refine, and maintain detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for multiple backend engineering teams, ensuring all stories are ready for dev and clearly define the expected business outcome before development begins.
• Partner with the Product Leadership, Product Managers, and internal business stakeholders — including operations, data, and finance teams — to gather, document, and clarify requirements, translating complex business needs into well-scoped development work.
• Manage and prioritize product backlogs across three engineering squads, maintaining alignment between short-term delivery commitments and the broader product roadmap.
• Participate in all Agile ceremonies across assigned engineering teams, including planning, daily standups, story sizing, retrospectives, and serving as the primary product representative in those sessions.
• Proactively identify and resolve impediments that block engineering progress, including requirements gaps, cross-team dependencies, and misaligned stakeholder expectations, keeping teams on task and unblocked.
• Provide occasional support on production issues, partnering with engineering and operations to triage incidents, clarify business impact, and help coordinate resolution and stakeholder communication.
• Define and validate acceptance criteria for delivered features & capabilities, leading and/or participating in user acceptance testing (UAT) and business demos to confirm that software meets stated business requirements before release.
• Develop and maintain a deep working knowledge of the company’s card network data integrations, merchant enrollment processes, transaction processing platform, and internal operational workflows to effectively represent business needs in development conversations.
• Break down large, complex product initiatives into manageable, independently deliverable pieces of work; facilitate story mapping sessions with engineering leads and stakeholders to sequence delivery logically.
• Support the Product Manager(s) in go-to-market planning activities, release communications, and cross-functional coordination as platform features approach production deployment.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation in project management and wiki tools (Jira, Confluence) to ensure requirements, decisions, and roadmap status are accessible and current for all stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex technical and business concepts clearly for both engineering and executive audiences.
• Proficient in Agile/Kanban frameworks with hands-on experience running backlog grooming, story planning, and story sizing sessions across multiple engineering teams simultaneously.
• Skilled in writing user stories and acceptance criteria, preferably in Given/When/Then (Gherkin) format; comfort with ambiguity and ability to drive requirements to resolution independently.
• Experience with Jira for backlog management, sprint tracking, and workflow configuration; Confluence experience preferred for requirements and decision documentation.
• Analytical mindset with ability to evaluate tradeoffs, assess business value, and make data-informed prioritization recommendations grounded in stakeholder input.

Our client, a major retail organization headquartered in New York City, is in the midst of a Merchandise Financial Planning (MFP) platform implementation. We are seeking a Functional Business Analyst to serve as the critical bridge between the business and the implementation team. The right candidate brings deep retail planning knowledge, a consultative mindset, and the ability to guide end users through process change, UAT, and training.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with business stakeholders to document, validate, and refine MFP business processes and workflows.
Lead and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT): write test scripts, coordinate testing sessions, track defects, and drive resolution.
Develop and deliver end-user training materials including job aids, quick reference guides, and instructor-led training sessions.
Create and maintain use cases, business requirements documentation, and functional specifications aligned with the MFP implementation.
Act as a subject-matter resource to end users during go-live and hypercare periods, answering functional questions and escalating issues appropriately.
Collaborate closely with technical consultants and vendors to translate business needs into system configuration requirements.
Support change management activities including stakeholder communication, impact assessments, and readiness reviews.
Facilitate working sessions and workshops with planning, merchandising, and finance teams to gather requirements and validate solution design.
Assist with data validation and reconciliation to ensure planning outputs align with business expectations.
Contribute to future-phase demand forecasting implementation as the engagement progresses (Board / Tulio).
Must-Have Qualifications
Hands-on experience with Merchandise Financial Planning (MFP): understands the end-to-end process including seasonal planning, open-to-buy, margin planning, and inventory targets.
Strong background in retail planning or retail operations — the client explicitly values industry knowledge over tool knowledge.
Demonstrated experience supporting or leading UAT in a retail systems implementation context.
Ability to develop clear, user-friendly training content and facilitate training sessions for non-technical retail business users.
Proven experience writing use cases, business requirements, and functional documentation.
Client-facing communication skills — comfortable presenting to planners, merchants, and finance leadership.
Comfortable working in a hybrid or remote model aligned to Eastern Time business hours.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience with Board or Tulio (CPM/planning platforms).
Know of / familiarity with demand forecasting, inventory planning, or supply chain planning for retail. MFP and Demand Forecasting will be integrated.
Prior consulting or staff augmentation experience in a client-delivery environment.
Experience with Agile/iterative delivery methods.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
Business users feel supported and confident in the new MFP system by go-live.
UAT cycles are completed on schedule with defects properly documented and resolved.
Training materials are clear, concise, and immediately usable by retail planners.

Own end-to-end execution of defined product and business initiatives

Define and own product health metrics for AI features: task completion, correction rates, override frequency, trust signals, and time-to-completion — and use them to drive product decisions.

3+ years of experience in tech/product roles with strong execution ownership
Direct experience building and running eval frameworks for AI products — golden datasets, rubrics, human-in-the-loop validation, and regression tracking across releases.
Technical fluency in LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, embeddings, and agentic patterns — enough to have substantive conversations with engineers and know when a product problem is a model problem.
Strong track record of building and shipping (0→1 projects, internal tools, automations, or similar)

Salary Range:
The annual base salary for this position is between $105,000 CAD and $115,000 CAD per year.
This role is also eligible for discretionary bonus and/or commission, as well as other benefits.
